About Casa
In late 2017, Ruby’s Place responded to an urgent need in the community. Federal law enforcement operations had led to the rescue of several men from Central America who were local victims of labor trafficking. Ruby’s Place provided many of them with housing and services in a hotel setting until we were able to open Casa de Ruby, the first shelter in the U.S. exclusively for men who are victims of labor and sex trafficking. Since then, Casa de Ruby has expanded to support six men at a time with housing while they pursue their legal cases, obtain permission to work, and begin to rebuild their lives. To date, 12 men have left the program and received work permits, and moved into housing with our support.
Trafficked men are often without a local support network and no way to travel home. They are at risk of homelessness if they manage to leave their trafficker. Many are re-victimized.

Staff
Casa de Ruby program is staffed by a shelter manager who is fluent in English and Spanish and who also provides supportive services for the residents.
